Ping: texting and calling
Get a real business number, text people from their records, and take calls in your browser.
About 14 minutes · Reaching out
Ping gives your business a real phone number that can text and take calls, wired straight into your contacts. Texts land in a shared team inbox and on each person's card. Calls ring in your browser with the caller's name on screen. There's no separate phone app to buy and no copy-pasting conversations anywhere.
1One-time setup: register to text
US carriers require every business that texts to register first. It's called 10DLC. You register your business once, describe what you'll text about, and a carrier reviewer approves it. Registration costs a small fee per attempt, so we built a preflight that catches the common rejections before you pay.
- Open Ping and press Get started. The registration walks you through your business profile (legal name, EIN, address exactly as they appear on tax records) and your campaign (what you'll text about, with sample messages).
- Describe your opt-in honestly. Reviewers visit your opt-in page and check the consent wording. Our preflight checks your privacy policy, terms, and opt-in the same way a reviewer does, and blocks a submission that would bounce.
- Buy your number. Pick a local number once you're approved. Plans include one or more numbers, and each can be owned by a person or shared by the team.
2Send and receive texts
- Text from a contact card. Open anyone's card, find the Texts tab, type, send. The thread lives on their timeline forever.
- Or work the shared inbox. Open Ping for every conversation across the team. Each conversation can have an owner so nothing gets answered twice or not at all.
- Use templates for the texts you send daily. Save a template once and insert it in any composer. Merge fields like {{first_name}} personalize per person, and single-recipient inserts fill in before your eyes.
- Broadcast to a list. Pick a list or smart segment, write once, send to everyone who has consented. Opt-outs are respected automatically.
- Delivery receipts
- Every text tracks its real carrier status. A failed send turns red in the thread with a plain reason (still registering, spam filter, landline), and hard failures put the credits straight back.
- STOP and HELP
- Handled automatically. Someone who texts STOP is opted out everywhere, instantly, and it's recorded.
- Segments
- Texts are billed in segments, which are 160-character chunks. Your composer shows the count before you send.
3Calls: your browser is the phone
- Call from any record. Press the phone icon on a contact or investor card. The call runs in your browser on your business number, timed and logged to the record when you hang up, with a quick outcome-and-notes card.
- Answer incoming calls. A call to your number rings your browser with the caller's CRM name on screen. One click answers. A shared number can ring the whole team, and each device has its own ring switch.
- Miss a call, keep the lead. Unanswered calls go to your voicemail with your greeting, and voicemails play right inside Ping. A ready-made automation can text the caller back the moment a call is missed, while the phone is still warm.
- Recording
- Off by default. Turn it on per call or always-on, and both sides hear a "this call may be recorded" announcement automatically. Pause and resume exist for card numbers.
- Transcripts and summaries
- Recorded calls and voicemails transcribe themselves with speaker labels, plus a summary and action items on the contact's timeline. This is included in the per-minute price, never an extra AI charge.
- Caller trust
- Your registered business profile does double duty: calls sign at full attestation and you can register a caller ID name, so people see your business, not "Spam Likely".
- Cost
- Paid plans include monthly calling credit, then five cents a minute. The Billing page shows your balance.
4After-call moves
- Log the outcome. When a call ends, the outcome card takes one tap: connected, voicemail, no answer, plus notes.
- Text from the same card. The after-call card has a Text button that opens the composer, templates included, so a missed connection becomes a message in seconds.
- Check the timeline. Every call, even unanswered outbound attempts, logs itself on the contact. Recordings play right there, transcript one click away.
